My yahoo email account (which I've been using for a decade) does not allow attachments on my new computer (I get the above idiotic error phrase: "Ouch…there's a problem attaching...?") I can attach files from my old desktop 'puter, but not the new one. I assume, therefore, that there's something to do with my security settings, but I dunno what.
In any case, I searched yahoo answers for, uh, answers... and not only have I found nothing, the answers that are given are insulting. Many many people seem to be having my problem, and the questions itself is answered stupidly (e.g. your file is too big! you are using a Mexican computer! - actually I made the last up, but ya know)
When I discover the answer, I'll let everyone know.
Update: I don't know if this is the "answer" but I wonder if all ya'll who're having the same trouble as I are also running the free Symantec Anti-Virus? My current theory is that this cruddy program's firewall is preventing the attachments - and I haven't found a way to adjust the firewall (as of yet). Let me know.

So many having the same problem. So far, zero answers.
I did find a (bad) fix: the problem is only with yahoo's "new and improved" email, but attachments work with the old mail.
So now, whenever I want to send an attachment, I switch over to the old email. And they ask, each time, for feedback, and I will usually tell them each time.
I found a solution: open a new message to compose, and before typing any text or the name of the recipient, attach the file
Anon, I just tried that and it still doesn't work, for me. The only fix I've found is to switch to old mail each time. Thanks for the suggestion, though, maybe it'll work for others.
Still seems to be a problem. I have been using the same computer, and the new mail since it was released as beta quite a while ago, and this seems to be a new(ish) problem. So I guess I will use a competitor to send files. Sort of sad, since I had this email account at yahoo since 1997.
For me it worked after signing out and then signing in again :).
If you mean signing in/out from the old version, then I understand ya.
To be honest, I think the culprit could be the free version of Symantec anti-virus - the firewall is oppressive and I haven't found a way to modify it.
