Barry Bonds beats Hank Aaron's record. Like I care that much. But, if Hank Aaron gave his bracha [by congratulating Bonds with a pre-recorded message], and if Bonds' godfather - Willie Freakin' Mays - is standing right next to him, I think we can say that Barry is accepted by his heroes and peers and all the wussoid sportswriters and assorted bellyachers should shut up.
I guess I view Sports the same way I view Halacha: if the gedolim say it's fine, then it's fine.
