Fun: The Bugle

The Bugle, is the 'audio newspaper for a visual world' by John Oliver & Andy Zalzman. Oliver is a senior correspondent on the Daily Show and, as the Bugle proves, a gifted comedian on his own. Zalzman is funny too, but in a standard 'all British people can be funny' type of way.

My favorite show so far is episode 10, but I have a lot of back issues to listen to.

Writers Strike

Naturally, as a Democrat, I support the writers in their labor dispute. Also, because they're the guys who bring me the Funny every day on the Daily Show. This Youtube clip, written and acted by the Daily Show writers, shows just how logical their stance is. And my friend who's a TDS writer is mocked...

WAHOO! Entire Daily Show Archives Online

Ahem. I repeat: WAHOO! The Times is reporting that Viacom has decided to put the entire 10+ year, 13000 episode, archives of the Daily Show online!

I consider this a victory for Youtube. Ya see, the first thing that happened when Google bought Youtube was for Viacom to forbid any of the Daily Show clips to be shown. This was a huge let-down for anybody who spoke English and owned a computer. The Daily Show is like the official underground newspaper of the U.S.

While the Mainstream Media has been prostituting themselves to this corrupt administration - or just lying down on the job - the Daily Show has actually been reporting the important news. And the combination of the formerly free Youtube access plus the fact that the old Comedy Central Daily Show archives sucked made this move necessary and important. Wow, some good news and so early in the day.

Ted Koppel to Leave 'Nightline'

Wow - not that I didn't expect this to happen (Ted Koppel to Leave 'Nightline' and ABC News) but that not one month ago I told my brother that if Koppel would retire the most logical choice for ABC - and TV news in general - is to hire Jon Stewart and the 'Daily Show' to go primetime.

Mark my words - if ABC is smart, they'll do what they did with Bill Mahr (it was ABC, no?) They took "Politically Incorrect," a top-rated comedy-news program, and brought it to late-night network TV. Mahr soon imploded, true, but that's because the show was a (poor) one-man show with a (poor) one idea-pony.

Stewart is the future of journalism (ironically, by being a Swiftian retro satirist) and Stewart has often mentioned that Koppel was the only one on TV that he really respects. I hope that this synergy happens.

I can't believe this website exists. I don't think you should endorse a candidate because you are already doing a wonderful job being the only objective source of commentary ('fake news') on TV

Pulitzer?

Anyone who watches "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" has got to wonder why they haven't gotten a Pulitzer yet. They are the only news organization that speaks clearly about the problems with the government. They are as biting as The Onion but less oblique and more like real news. Seriously. Maybe I should start a petition.
